EVERGREEN LABYRINTH

Created for the Stage 10 Reserve on Eildon Avenue in Clyde, the Evergreen Labyrinth is a site-specific public artwork designed as a place to slow down, walk, sit and find quiet connection. The work responds directly to its setting, drawing on the surrounding waterway, bird life, aquatic life and plant life, including kookaburras, tawny frogmouths and blue-tongue lizards. These local species are woven through the mosaic panels and seating, encouraging visitors to look closely at the environment around them and understand that the artwork belongs to this particular place.

The labyrinth is not intended as a decorative object alone. It invites people to move through the space, pause, reflect and engage with the land through their own experience. Built from mosaic, stone and a single winding path, the work holds stories of Country, ecology and First Nations cultural memory. Its purpose is also long-term: to create a lasting community place that can continue to carry these stories for future generations.
